With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with diamond hour markers in 1947 and its subsequent sale on 13 May 1948. Furthermore delivered with a spare Patek Philippe black velvet bracelet.
To the best of our knowledge, this watch has never been offered at auction before. It is believed to be one of approximately only a dozen examples of this reference in platinum with diamond numerals to appear in public to date. Consequently, reference 2422 is amongst the rarest models of square or rectangular-shaped wristwatches of Patek Philippe's 1940s and 1950s production. The watch is furthermore preserved in very good, original overall condition.
Reference 2422 was introduced into the market in 1946 and remained in production for around 10 years. It is distinguished by its unusual case design, in particular the "spider" lugs which very much resemble those of the celebrated chronograph reference 1579.
