With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial and yellow gold numerals in 1942 and its subsequent sale on 17 June 1942. It furthermore states under "Remarks" that the present Patek Philippe dial is black with white gold Arabic numerals and outer railway minute divisions.

This watch is thought to be the only example of this reference in stainless steel with such a desirable black "telephone" dial known to exist to date. Watch dials featuring a full set of upright Arabic numerals are often referred to as "telephone dials" due to their resemblance to a dial plate of elder generation telephones.

The fascinating combination of the black gloss dial with the silvered signature, railway minute divisions and subsidiary seconds render the watch a unique and extremely distinguished look.

Fresh to the auction market, the present watch furthermore impresses by its extremely good condition, preserving the immaculate satin-finish and the sharp lines of the case, not showing any signs of overpolishing.

The large Calatrava model reference 570 was introduced into the market in 1938, featuring either subsidiary or sweep centre seconds. It was available in stainless steel, yellow, pink and white gold and platinum.
