A mistress to Edward VII, the Prince of Wales, the famed beauty launched her career on stage and gained international acclaim. She is pictured here in her role as Cleopatra in Anthony and Cleopatra. The beautiful Egyptian Revival Necklace was made by Hancock's and Co. in the late 1870s and given to Ms. Langtry by the Prince of Wales. This unique necklace - with an Egyptian inspiration to its sumptuous design - was very special to her. Ms. Langtry wore it on her opening night as Cleopatra at the Princess Theatre in 1890. It was then replaced by a larger stage copy for her continued stage appearances as Cleopatra.
