In addition to learning photography from his illustrious father, Edward, Brett Weston also made thousands of prints for him to his exacting standards. He applied what he learned from that experience to making prints from his own negatives. Thoroughly convinced that no one else could or should print from his negatives after his demise, Brett famously burned his negatives on his 80th birthday. Before that event he made from each of his negatives key sets of the finest prints that he kept to the end of his life. The present lot came from one of those sets of exceptional quality prints.
