Jeannette Ivanoff, the artist's wife, was a strong-willed woman of many talents. Born in Poland, Ivanoff, whose real name was Jeanne Moot, had nursed Zárraga during an illness at the onset of the First World War. The artist would realize numerous portraits during his lifetime of his beautiful and elegant bride.
