The present reference 6034 is one of the rare gems within the Rolex chronograph family: retailed by Serpico y Laino, Rolex's prestigious agent in Caracas, Venezuela, it is furthermore featuring the much sought-after pulsometre scale instead of the more commonly found tachymetre or telemetre indication. Often made to special order for a physician, the pulsometre allows measuring the number of heartbeats per minute. Usually calibrated for 15 or 30 beats, the hand is stopped at the patient's 15th or 30th heartbeat; the scale on the dial then indicating the relevant frequency per minute.
Reference 6034 was introduced into the market in the early 1950s; the majority was cased in stainless steel or 18K gold, a small series in 14K gold.
A variety of references 6034 with pulsometre scale are described and illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 232 & 233, 250 & 251.
