According to the Archives of IWC, the present watch was manufactured in 1998 and sold to a retailer in Switzerland.

Introduced in 1994, IWC's Portofino Perpetual Romana model ref. 2050 is believed to be the slimmest perpetual calendar wristwatch ever made, the movement featuring a thickness of only 3.15 mm. It remained in production until 1997.
