AN IMPRESSIVE RUBY AND DIAMOND NECKLACE
Designed as a series of thirty graduated oval and cushion-shaped rubies weighing from 4.03 to 1.00 carats, within a marquise, pear and oval-shaped diamond surround, mounted in platinum and 18k gold, 41.0 cm long
Accompanied by report no. 57314 dated 9 September 2010 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the thirty rubies weighing 57.48 carats are of Burma (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the thirty rubies possess extraordinary characteristics and merit a special mention and appreciation. The rubies are matching in their well-saturated colour combined with a pleasant cutting style. The vivid red observed in part of the stones is poetically referred to as "pigeon blood" in the trade and is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in the stones, typical and characteristics for Burmese rubies. Assembling such a selection of natural rubies of this quality and matching colour is exceptional and the described jewellery with its combination of outstanding characteristics is a very rare treasure
Report no. GRS2010-052439 dated 2 July 2010 from the Gem Research Swiss Lab stating that the thirty rubies weighing a total of 57.48 carats are of Burma (Myanmar) origin, vivid red colour (GRS type "pigeon's blood"), with no indication of thermal treatment; also accompanied by an appendix to a Platinum Award No. 566 stating that this necklace is composed of a rare set of rubies from the classical mining areas of Burma (Myanmar) that are characterized by fine colour, good brilliancy and transparency, and spared of thermal enhancement. As the Burmese mines have been dramatically reduced in production, the assemblage of such a set can be considered an impressive effort of collection work. It is a piece of jewellery of remarkable beauty
