Over the meal, she explained to him that clouds make rain. The second day he went searching for a cloud and came back home carrying a small one. He offered it to his mother for her birthday." This work presents another glimpse into Nadim Karam's vision of playful figures invading the urban environment. Boy Carrying A Cloud is made of mother of pearl buttons placed on a wooden structure. The boy is standing with his arms stretched above him as he lifts a cloud. For Karam, the cloud is reminiscent of the lives of nomads - their perpetual movement corresponds to the constant travel and flux of the suspended clouds that hover above our heads. A visible mass of water droplets that are neither fixed nor tangible but are also in a constant state of transience.
