A VICTORIAN SILVER PRIZE CUP AND COVER,
MARK OF CHARLES LIAS, LONDON, 1843
Campana form with leafy scroll handles, chased around body, foot and cover with roses, thistles and shamrocks, on one side the Queen's crown and sceptre resting upon a bible and a scroll, the other side with an elaborate cartouche inscribed Farmers Steeplechase Aldershot, April 13th, 1883. "Dover" owned and ridden by Alex Hatfield Esq. carried 12 stone 7 lbs., the cover capped by a finial modelled as the young Queen Victoria
