FROM THE COLLECTION OF MR. WANG REN-YUAN
These paintings come from the collection of the late Mr. Wang Ren-Yuan (1909-1996) . Mr. Wang had a ministerial position in the government of Taiwan from 1970 to 1976, and was the Minister of Justice in the executive branch. He was especially fond of Chinese modern paintings, and though Wang was acquainted with both Zhang Daqian and Yu Youren, they never had the opportunity to deepen their friendships further. Most of Mr. Wang's personal collection of paintings was bought through an art dealer in Taipei. After his death in 1996, his collection was handed down to his family by descent.
