This Chicken Noodle Soup Can edition was created while Liza Lou was at work on her seminal piece The Kitchen, 1991-1995, now part of the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Her first large scale installation, it is a complete recreation of a kitchen rendered entirely in small glass beads. The soup can was in fact the first subject Lou approached with this method, which is today central to her creative process and oeuvre.
