With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 9 March 2005, copy of original invoice from the same date and copy of Patek Philippe servicing invoice dated 23 June 2006. Furthermore delivered with spare glazed display back numbered 4'216'228, 18K white gold and wooden setting pin, period instructions for a ref. 3940, fitted veneered presentation box and outer packaging. Also accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with white gold numerals in 2004 and its subsequent sale on 9 March 2005.

This reference 3970 is one of the last examples made of the celebrated model. Purchased by the present owner at the Salon Patek Philippe in Geneva in 2005, it has never been offered in public before and is preserved in very good overall condition.

Reference 3970 was in production from 1986 until 2004 when it was replaced by reference 5970 (see lot 73 in this auction). The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 305.
