With Patek Philippe Certificat d'Origin et de Garantie stamped Pelloni, Orologeria dal 1892, Via del Corso, 140, Rome, and dated 11 July 1969. Furthermore delivered with Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1968 and its subsequent sale on 30 April 1969.
Reference 1463, the only vintage Patek Philippe chronograph model with screw back case and round pushers, is without question one of the celebrated manufacturer's most iconic and noble sports watches. Launched in 1940, it remained in production until 1969, the year when the present watch was purchased by the actual owner and his wife to celebrate their marriage.
The couple acquired their treasure from Hausmann in Rome, Patek Philippe's distinguished retailer - interestingly, the certificate of origin is stamped Pelloni Orologeria, another of Rome's prominent retailer of fine watches, which was taken over by Hausmann in the late 1960s.
Evidently always treated with outmost care and respect, this paragon of post-war design is distinguished by its extremely attractive and well-preserved original overall condition. Thanks to only sporadic wear the full case displays very good case proportions, most notably are the healthy edges and crisp gold mark. Over time the dial has taken a charismatic, perfect cream-coloured patina, the hard enamel signature and scales are as raised as the connoisseur would expect.
Fresh to the market, of private provenance and still retaining the original certificate, the present reference 1463 is a wonderful addition to any distinguished collection.
