Daniel Grignion (1684-1763),a native of France worked in London. Grignion & Son, the firm he started at the 'King's Arms and Dial' in Great Russell Street, Covent Garden, with Daniel and son Thomas Grignion as partners. They described themselves as finishers for the late Daniel Quare. Thomas is credited with making technical improvements to the cylinder escapement.
