AN IMPORTANT RUBY AND DIAMOND NECKLACE
The highly articulated necklace designed as a series of oval and cushion-shaped rubies, each within a brilliant, baguette and tapered baguette-cut diamond surround, mounted in platinum, 42.3 cm long
Accompanied by report no. 62724 dated 12 March 2012 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the fifty-two rubies are of Burma (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the rubies possess extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The rubies exhibit a matching and vivid saturated colour, combined with a fine purity and an attractive cutting style. The inclusions found by microscopic inspection represent the hallmarks of the reputed ruby deposits in mines from Burma (Myanmar). Their vivid red colour, poetically referred to as "pigeon's blood", is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in the stones, typical and characteristics for the finest rubies of Burmese. To assemble a matching series of natural rubies from Burma of this quality is rare and exceptional
