Christophe Claret is truly in a league of his own. For 20 years, Christophe Claret is the best kept secret among the world's most famous watch brands as the hidden talent who develops and produces the components of some of their most innovative complications. As few brands would admit to subcontracting the creation of their most complex models, beyond a small circle of aficionados, the name of Christophe Claret is little known to the public at large. Claret is not only a creator and developer; his manufacture also designs the complex machines used to make the components by researching the most cutting-edge technology. In essence, the Claret manufacture is the watch industry's one-stop solution for possibly the world's most complicated movements. As Christophe Claret once said, "The tourbillon is our most standard escapement."
2009 marked the 20th anniversary of the Claret manufacture and a turning point for Christophe Claret when he decided to launch his own brand with the creation of the exclusive timepiece, the DualTow, a single-pusher planetary-gear chronograph with striking system and tourbillon. A reflection of the innovation, expertise and excellence which is inherent to the Claret manufacture, the DualTow is an amalgamation of the wide variety of skills within the company. From the development of the Dualtow's highly complex movement which houses several inventions including on patented innovation, to the manufacture of each component of its futuristic looking case, each operation was performed in-house by Christophe Claret's team of experienced technicians and craftsmen.
The present DualTow NightEagle is a unique example and is for the first time offered at auction.
At the 2010 Baselworld watch fair, the Dualtow returns in an even more sophisticated version. The design of the watch takes its inspiration from the sleek lines and muted colours of stealth aircrafts such as the American F-117 Night Hawk, as well as the world of heavy machinery with its caterpillar track belt-type display, at the same time the colours of black and white allude to the coat of the royal eagle, giving rise to the intriguing name for this series - the Night Eagle.
