With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1996 and its subsequent sale on March 13 of the following year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated April 16, 1997, wooden presentation box, leather envelope, product literature and outer packaging.

Reference 3970 is today considered a classic among collectors. The watch reflects its history in the now classic reference 2499 which captivated enthusiasts for three decades. One discerns the signature fluted downturned lugs, as a 4th series example the watch is with a sapphire crystal screw down back.
