拍品专文

"For Raza it is the bindu which becomes the single compelling image that recurs on the canvas with infinite variations- suspended in a timeless zone as a magnetic force that controls the sacred order of the universe." (G. Sen, Bindu: Space and Time in Raza's Vision, Delhi, 1997, p. 142)

Shanti Bindu resonates with a meditative magnetism that is both spiritual and seductive. These harmonious circles emanating from the epicenter of Shanti Bindu forms an elegant exemplar of this iconic series. The focal point or bindu at the center of the concentric circles is both an nucleus of geometric abstraction and the concentrated core of energy at the heart of the work. The fascination with the innate force of the bindu has been an integral part of Raza's oeuvre since the late 1980s. Bindu is a metaphysical symbol constituting the beginning and the end, it is both the supreme reality and the prime mover of the universe. This Shanti Bindu refers to peace and tranquility, a holistically harmonious window that transcends realities.
