With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1992 and its subsequent sale on 5 May 1992.

To the best or our knowledge the present watch has never been offered at auction before.

The celebrated reference 3970 was in production from 1986 until 2004. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 305.
