According to the archives of Breguet, the present watch has been called "compteur à pointage, nouveau modele" n.557 has been sold to Pixu on 21st December 1846, for the sum 280 Fr.FR.
The present watch is a very nice and rare example of an inking chronograph, which was invented by famous French watchmaker Nicolas Mathieu Rieussec (1781-1852) in 1821. Rieussec's inking chronograph was further developed and perfected by Frederick Louis Fatton, one of Breguet's most talented workmen. Other watchmakers and watchmaking companies also developed their own versions.
