With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1951 and its subsequent sale on 7 December 1963. The Extract further states that the movement was made in 1951 and completed and encased in 1963.
This watch is believed to be the only example of a reference 605 HU world-time dress watch fitted with a black dial to have appeared in public to date.
Even though the Extract from the Archives does not mention the black dial, one can safely conclude that the dial was made for the watch as it bears on the reverse the individual serial number. The only other known world time watch by Patek Philippe with black dial is a wristwatch reference 2523/1 and it very likely that the two watches were originally conceived as a pair.

For an image of the above mentioned reference 2523/1 with black dial, see Patek Philippe Complicated Wrist Watches by Paolo de Vecchi & Giorgio Gregato, pp. 158 & 159.
