With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with gold hour numerals in 1953 and its subsequent sale on 10 May 1954.

Consigned by a private collector, this reference 1579 is distinguished by its very honest overall condition. The case has not been subject to careless polishing, underlined by the crisp hallmark to the side of the upper left lug. Over time, the unrestored dial has taken a charismatic, uniform ivory-coloured patina, the appeal enhanced by the signature of the prestigious Swiss watch and jewellery retailer Gübelin.

Production of reference 1579 was launched in 1943. The large case and unusual lugs, also called spider lugs because of their resemblance to a spider's legs, make it easily distinguishable from other Patek Philippe chronograph wristwatches of the era.
