PROPERTY OF AN ENGLISH GENTLEMAN
This painting belonged to the owner's mother, who lived in Beijing from May 1956 to June 1958 when her husband worked at the British Embassy in China. The couple visited Qi Baishi in late March 1957, as shown in the photo. Upon their departure for the UK, this painting was documented in the inventory of her possessions.
