FROM THE COLLECTION OF MR. TANG SIYAO Tang Siyao (1902-1989) was born into a family of literati and began to learn calligraphy at an early age. Having graduated from Beijing University, he went on to Japan before returning to his homeland and devoted his services to the education sector. Tang was assiduous in promoting Chinese arts and culture and was friends with many Modern Chinese painters and calligraphers, who would get together regularly to meet and exchange ideas.
