Executed in 1972, Peter Langan is seated at the top end of Odin's with the long, narrow restaurant stretching behind. Hockney depicts the famously whimsical upturned umbrellas hanging above Langan's head. These were hung by Peter in Odin's as a cheap but effective way to hide the undecorated ceiling. In 1973, looking to expand, Langan acquired the premises next door on Devonshire Street and named it Odin's. After a number of false starts the original Odin's became Langan's Bistro, as it remains known today.
