I Nyoman Darya's works are largely figurative, narrative centred and bold and playful in composition. His paintings engage the viewer, encouraging introspection. In The Fire Dragon Shot (Lot 388), Darya narrates an elder who seems to revisit his youth. Despite his frailty, ?he overcomes his physical limitation to squat and play marbles as how he did it in his youth. The antithetical juxtaposition of the theme of youth and elder can also be seen from the eyes and marbles. The marbles seem to echo the eyes but the clarity and vibrancy of the marbles distinct itself from the frail eyes of the old man. The expression of the elder and the dog beside him also draw in viewers, captivating them with a humorous and contemplative narration.
