Contemporary media artist Charinthorn Rachurutchata is an exciting new talent working with the medium of photography. Within her Look Khun Noo (Privileged Kids) series of works, Rachurutchata explores the theme of loneliness experienced by the children of wealthy Asian families who have been left to the care of domestic helpers; to the extent that they withdraw into their own imaginary worlds populated by a host of fantastical creatures who are their only friends. The artist portrays the fear of growing up into high society, whilst facing the angst of having to become the next generation of emotionally and physically distant parents. In this little girl's "imaginarium" a cross between imaginary and aquarium, where she exists like a solitary goldfish in a bowl the trappings and icons of Asian wealth have morphed into a scintillating and hybrid universe.
