With Rolex International Service Guarantee dated 9 July 2013 valid for two years, three Rolex invoice and estimate papers from the same date and a note on Rolex papers confirming that the guarantee is valid for two years, Rolex Quartz literature, as well as two boxes. One of the boxes is the original Rolex fitted burgundy presentation box, decorated with a gilt Rolex buckle and crown on a strap to close the box and outer packaging. The other box is a green styropor box given to clients after a watch has been serviced and outer packaging.
The present watch is in excellent overall condition following a servicing at Rolex only this year, while still retaining its character as the dial and bezel have been left in their original state. The crystal was replaced to allow clear view. From the descendant of the original owner, the watch is a beautiful and rare vintage piece, which seldom comes up at auction and is a real find.
The quartz Rolex, reference 5100, was introduced in 1970 and was immediately so successful that the initial pilot series production was completely sold out prior to delivery. Model 5100 was the first Rolex to have a sapphire crystal and the quick date change mechanism. It was also revolutionary for the new case design, much more angular in its shape than the Oyster case. Designed to be made in very limited quantities only, each Rolex Quartz is engraved with the limited edition number. The present watch, one of the very rare white gold examples, is number 190.
