朱昱的《茶渍 第11 号》(Lot 42) 超越传统静物写生的桎梏,艺术家长达数月对偶尔形成的茶渍图像反复罩染,在无光无影无时间的大幅画面中,无意义的“像”转换成抽象绘画般的镜像,情感和精神以这种自我消耗的方式隐匿于他的画面里。微妙的色彩层次,轮廓的勾勒令人想起了中国水墨画追求意境的情感。茶中的鞣酸在茶杯上留下了的茶渍的痕迹与墨汁在宣纸上晕染的效果有着异曲同工之妙。然而,这不是水墨画,而是来自完全不同的文化和观念体系的油画。正是对此种渲染痕迹两千年来早已有之的识别力,激发了中国人对这种作品的想象能力。类似于风景画的文人石和天然的大理石花纹激起了精神和美学上的沉思。这就是中国传统美学常说的“气韵”抑或“精神共鸣”,并非中国传统艺术表面的形式技法。 朱昱

Through the pictorial construct that transcends the limits of still lifes, Zhu Yu's Stain No. 11 (Lot 42) depicts an image of tea stain - one that the artist had carefully observed day after day for months-and the complexity as well as contingency carried within. Taking away technicalities such as lights and shadows to create timeless atmosphere, Zhu's treatment of the large canvas distinguishes itself from the refinement of figurative paintings, ultimately achieving a mirror image that is simultaneously abstract and spiritual.The subtle gradation of colour, outlines and contours, are reminiscent of a sensibility at the heart of Chinese ink-wash painting. The tannin in the tea effectively stains the cup in the same way that ink creates a bleeding effect on paper. However, this is not ink-wash painting, this is oil painting that comes from a completely separate cultural and conceptual lineage. It is this sensibility that has held the Chinese imagination captive for two thousand years. Scholar's rocks and the natural patterns of marble that resemble landscapes inspire quiet contemplation on a spiritual and aesthetic level. This is the 'qi yun' or spirit resonance that informs Chinese traditional aesthetics, and not the surface formal techniques of traditional Chinese art.


Born in 1970, in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. Zhu Yu studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and received his BFA in 1991.
