With Rolex blank Guarantee, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.
The present watch is a fine and exceedingly rare example of the celebrated reference 6265 Cosmograph model, preserved in excellent, virtually unworn original overall condition, virtually unworned and still retaining the protective green sticker to the back.
One can most probably explain the excellent condition of the present example as its dial is adorned with the Khanjar, the famous crest of the Sultanate of Oman. His Majesty's had the habit of personalising his watches with either his signature or the Crest of the Sultanate of Oman. At occasions, these personalised watches left his collection and were given as a gift to friends or dignitaries. No need to say that such an important gift would receive all the care deserved by such a trophy and it comes to no surprise that most of these watches were actually never worn.
Reference 6265 was introduced into the market in the early 1970s, simultaneously with its peers 6263 and 6264, the first "Oyster" versions of the celebrated "Cosmograph" model. Available in stainless steel, 14K and 18K gold, the models were fitted with the "screw down" chronograph buttons, the tachometer scale engraved directly onto the bezel. Models in 14K gold were exclusively reserved for the North American market.
Never offered before in public auction, the present watch, through its combination of new old stock condition and provenance, is elevated to the rank of collector's item that one should consider a treasure to be added to any well-curated collection.
