Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvery opaline-white dial and yellow gold sword-shaped indexes in 1993 and its subsequent sale on 15 September 1993.
Reference 3970 is the third in the line of Patek Philippe perpetual chronographs, probably the most revered lineage of wristwatches ever produced. True to its DNA - originated with the legendary ref. 1518 and passed on to ref. 2499 before this third incarnation - the dial is a masterpiece of design. Maintaining the typical three subdials layout, this model, compared to its predecessors, increases the information offered (24 hours and leap year indications) without overcomplicating or unbalancing the overall look of the watch.
