A BRONZED PLASTER FIGURE BELIEVED TO BE ALMINA COUNTESS OF CARNARVON
POSSIBLY BY SIR ALFRED GILBERT O.M., R.A. (1854-1934)
On an integral plinth, a typed label to the underside reading 'Bronzed plaster figure bought from the dealer Leonard Spero, then in Walton ? street, about 1952 for £7. It then bore an ms. note stuck inside the base declaring it to be a modello for a statue of Almina Countess of Carnaervon, and signed by Alfred Gilbert. Having satisfied myself that the not(e) (sic) was in Gilbert's hand, I removed the label for safety and can no longer find it. ..... Francis Watson. 7th September 1982.'
28 in. (71 cm.) high
