The present "Reverso" is a particularly unusual example of the celebrated model, featuring a specially made blue starburst dial showing the Big Dipper constellation. Although not confirmed by Jaeger-LeCoultre, this dial is possibly a unique piece which never went beyond the prototype stage.
The watch is furthermore preserved in excellent overall condition.
The Big Dipper constellation is one of the most distinctive asterisms in the sky. Mizar and Alcor are portrayed in the middle of the Big Dipper's handle. Since Alcor is so small, the ability to distinguish the two stars was held as a measure of good vision in medieval times.
