Château Mouton-Rothschild 1988
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
In original wooden case. Original tissues. Excellent appearance. One damaged capsule. One slightly damaged label. Levels: nine base of neck or better and three top-shoulder
Tasting note: Most recently: fairly deep, plummy-coloured; sweet, rather rustic, unspectacular nose, good extract and fruit. An hour after decanting, a whiff of charred tar and mocha, opening up better later that evening. Touch of sweetness, perfect weight (12.5% alcohol), full of fruit, good length and sustaining tannin and acidity. Last tasted April 2007 ***(**) Could do with more time, say Now-2020. M.B.
