拍品专文

Like Kandisky, Mondriaan and many other artists at the time, Theo van Doesburg had an interest in Theosophy during 1912-1915. The spiritual ideas of the theosophers have led many artists to abstraction. It was one of the core doctrines on which De Stijl movement has been founded.

The present lot is based on an illustration from the book De zichtbare en onzichtbare mens (Amsterdam, 1920) by the theosophist C.W. Leadbeater.
