With Longines Extract from the Archives confirming the production of the present watch in stainless steel, fitted with a mechanical manually wound movement, calibre 13ZN, and its subsequent sale on 11 November 1937 to the company The Jeweller's Supply & Co, which was at that time Longines' agent for Egypt.
This watch is an exceedingly rare example of one of the firm's military chronographs from the 1930s, distinguished by the unusual enamel dial with luminous numerals. In fact research has revealed that this is Longines' first stainless steel chronograph wristwatch with military engravings and this particular dial configuration to appear in public to date. The watch is furthermore preserved in very good original overall condition.
A similar watch, but on a silver hinged single-button chronograph wristwatch, is illustrated in Longines Watches by John Goldberger, pp. 24-25.
