With Jaeger-LeCoultre Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1967.
It was acquired by its actual owner at the Fine Watches And Wristwatches Including The Private Collection Of The Porsche Family auction at Bonhams Auctioneers, London, 2 December 2009. It is sold with the letter addressed to him, dated 11 December 2009 and signed by Oliver Porsche, congratulating him on his purchase.
The more complex iteration of the legendary alarm watch "Memovox", this piece combines the alarm function with a revolving ring for keeping track of diving time. The case construction is highly unusual and dictated by engineering needs combined with bold aesthetic decisions: the three crowns are the most striking feature, but also the double case back, the outer layer perforated, is a very peculiar trait, designed so that the alarm can be better heard. According to literature, only 1714 such timepieces were produced, and it is a safe assumption that few of them survived in condition as attractive and original as the present specimen. The distinguished provenance adds to the overall appeal of the timepiece: as the letter the lot is delivered with clarifies, this wristwatch is the former property of the Porsche family, specifically: Oliver Porsche, sold in a thematic auction on 2 December 2009.
