With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with enamel dial and Roman numerals in 1885 and its subsequent sale on 16 November 1886.
The present watch is fresh to the market and delights by its overall excellent condition. This very fine minute repeater is of high quality, beautifully chiming the hours, quarters and minutes.
The case is of great finesse and of large size. The dial further impresses with one of the earliest signature fonts displayed on a Patek Philippe watch.
Much to the delight of its future owner, the present watch is accompanied by its orignal wooden desk box, especially and conveniently manufactured to strike at convenience through a secret lever within the box, triggered through a string. It is the first time that this example, with its original box, appears at auction.
