Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1992 and its subsequent sale in on May 19th of the same year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe winding box, and outer packaging.
Reference 3940 was launched in 1985 and remained in production until 2006.
It is commonly understood that reference 3940 was produced in three series. The first series (1985-1988, movement nos: from 770'100) with stepped sunken subdials and no divisions inside the leap year indicator, the second (1988-1998, movement nos. from 771'000) with beveled sunken subdials and leap year indicator divided in quarters, and the last series (1998-2007, movement nos. from 3'123'000) with the updated calibre 240 114Q.
The present watch is from the second series, featuring bevelled subsidiary dials for the 24 hours display and leap year indicator, as opposed to the inner sunken version of the first series and even version of later models.
