A signature design by Garouste & Bonetti, the first version of this design was created for a major European collector in 1990, soon followed by a second sample created for the Belgravia, London, residence of a second client. The design was subsequently adopted by Néotù in Paris, who edited the design in less than ten examples. The strongly stylized architectural qualities of the oak case are belied by the sinuous, entwined ironwork that references of the mâitre-bronziers commissioned to ornament the furniture of late eighteenth-century French ébènistes.
