The present watch is a fine example of an early minute repeater of best quality. A silver watch with comparable skeletonized minute repeating movement with undulating gongs and snake head terminals is illustrated in Taschenuhren by Reinhard Meis, p. 162, pl. 315 & 316.

Vaucher Frères located in Geneva and La Chaux-de-Fonds were renowned makers of high quality watches and small clocks, active between 1780 and 1830.
