With Vacheron Constantin Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1996.

The Mercator model was launched in 1994 to honour the memory of the famous cartographer and humanist Gerardus Mercator on the 400th anniversary of his death. The dials represent the American Continent or Australia, Europe, Africa and Asia, as drawn by Gerardus Mercator in 1587.
