The present "Black EMC" wristwatch is number 9 of the limited edition of only 55 numbered examples of the model, launched in 2014. Consigned by an important private collector it is furthermore preserved in close to new overall condition.
The electro mechanical control or EMC movement was result of about 6 years of research and development. Mixing mechanical timekeeping with a digital accuracy checking device allows the wearer to check the accuracy of the watch at any given moment, without having to connect the timepiece to an external machine or any other testing apparatus.
It is the world’s first fully-integrated mechanical watch with built in ‘artificial intelligence’. Changes in position and temperature, as well as shocks, can all adversely affect the isochronism (timing regularity) of a wristwatch. But thanks to EMC’s unique and pioneering monitoring unit, not only can the wearer obtain the precise timing rate on demand, they can then use that information to accurately adjust the precision of their watch to suit their own personal rhythm.
The ingenious “Black EMC” was awarded the “Mechanical exception” and “Innovation” prizes at the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in October 2014.
