Reference 1665 was the first wristwatch designed for use in saturation diving, fitted with a Rolex patent valve in the band and guaranteed waterproof to 610 meters depth. The valve was first developed on the Submariner model and allows helium and other gases to escape, enabling the watch to stand compression. DIAL: Black, dot and baton numerals, luminous accents, Mercedes hands, sweep centre seconds, window for magnified date
CASE: Stainless steel, black calibrated rotating bezel, screw down back stamped 1665 inside, screw down crown, 39.5 mm. diam.
BRACELET/CLASP: Stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet stamped 91350, clasp stamped VC, end links stamped 585, dive extension link, overall length approximately 175 mm.
