The present watch is a fine and well preserved example of Longines complicated timepiece from the early 20th century.

Longines was founded by Auguste Agassiz in 1832 in Saint-Imier. Its winged hourglass logo is the oldest registered trademark for a watchmaker. The manufacture celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2007.
