While tourbillons have become something of a common complication, it is only those brands with true experience and know how in the realm of haute horologie that have mastered the fine engineering required to push this novel and lively escapement to new bounds. One such maison is that of Parmigiani Fleurier, whose experience gained from its founder Michael Parmigiani in the world of restoring of historically important automatons, singing bird boxes and other such complex creations, have allowed the brand to flourish in the production of grand complications.
One of its exceptional innovations is that of the 30-second tourbillon. While other manufacturers have stuck to the standard of one-minute tourbillons, due to the increased power requirements of faster rates of revolution only a few brands have tried to push this envelope. For Parmigiani to be able to achieve this, in addition to a power reserve of 7-days, is truly miraculous and a stand out technical achievement.
This particular example of the Kalpa XL Tourbillon has not only been consigned by the original owner, but is also part of an extremely rare and highly prized limited edition of just 12 pieces made in platinum with a silvered guilloche dial, which was only sold to members of the Royal House. Truly an exceptional opportunity to become the proud owner of such an exceptionally rare and important complication with royal provenance.
