Reference 222 was launched in 1977 to celebrate the manufacturer’s 222nd year of continuous watch manufacture. It was made in a limited edition of 500 examples in stainless steel, 120 in stainless steel and gold and 100 in 18k gold.
Reference 222 is a classic time-only watch - its design different from any other watch of Vacheron Constantin’s production at the time. It was meant to be a bold sports watch, reflecting the fashion of the late 1970s, which it unquestionably does.
