The Comité Marc Chagall has confirmed the authenticity of this work.
"During the 1960s, when Marc Chagall was doing first a window in memory of my father for the Union Church at Pocantico Hills and later eight other stained-glass windows for the church, I visited him both at his home in Paris and at his studio in Saint Paul de Vence. In 1965, on one of my visits, I saw this vase, which attracted my interest. I was pleased that he agreed to let me buy it from him since he normally only sold through a dealer." —David Rockefeller
