The Garnkirk Fireclay Works, established by the Sprot family in 1831, and Robert Browne and Son’s Ferguslie Fireclay Works in Paisley, established in 1850, were two of the most predominant producers of terracotta garden ornaments and urns in Scotland from the mid-19th century.
